california tourist: big sur and SLO.

September 17, 2012

Here are the last of my pictures from our 1-year anniversary trip…these are my faves.

Big Sur was one of those places I had heard so much about, and it 100% lived up to my expectations.

It was so much fun driving down the coast and listening to Harry Potter 4 on audiobook.

We stopped and saw the famous elephant seals in San Simeon.

Then we did a quick hike at Montaña de Oro State Park in San Luis Obispo. What amazing views!

We stayed overnight in SLO, at a sweet little bed and breakfast called Petit Soleil. It was supposed to be a little taste of France. We enjoyed appetizers and wine in the afternoon, and a delicious breakfast in the morning.

The only thing we didn’t like was the painting in our room, which kind of freaked us out…

We spent the next day driving down to Santa Maria for our last night of the trip, where we stayed with Colby’s Aunt and Uncle. We did a midday wine tasting at Baileyana Winery in SLO (shout out to Nate-dawg for the recommendation). It was suuuch a beautiful and peaceful place!

We also checked out Avila Beach on our way down.

What a sweet way to end the summer. :)
