four months.

December 7, 2011

Today Colby and I celebrate 4 months of marriage. Maybe that doesn’t seem like much of a milestone. Maybe it’s true that we’re still barely even married. Maybe I’m naïve, but I can’t help but be thankful every single day for this incredible relationship that I get to be a part of. We’ve grown together so much in just these past few months. Our relationship has shifted and cemented significantly. In many ways, life feels exactly the same. In many ways, life feels totally different.

I love this season of life. I love the excitement I have to spend time with my husband. I love making decisions together, even about small things. I love the anticipation of this first Christmas that we get to spend together. Life with Colby is undeniably sweet right now. I look around me and see unhappy couples; I hear negativity everywhere. I know the statistics. I know life is hard. I know that we have so far to go, so many obstacles to overcome, so many long years ahead of us. And yet, I can’t help but have hope for the future of us. Despite what anyone might say about what lies ahead, I choose to live hopefully and continue to savor each sweet moment that we have together.
