shamshock shakes.

March 1, 2011

As my dad reminded me first thing this morning, it is March!

‘Tis the season of the hope of spring, St. Patrick’s Day (wearin’o’the green!!), and Shamshock shakes.

Yeah, you read that right. ShamSHOCK.  Shamshock is a half chocolate, half shamrock shake from McDonald’s.

Raise your hand if you get psyched for Shamrock shakes every March. Now raise your hand if you’re from a city/state that doesn’t have the delectable treat.

I never knew until my twenty-second birthday that they don’t sell Shamrock shakes everywhere in America. How could I have known? I had only spent my birthday in Ohio or perhaps in Chicago. On that particular depressing birthday I was in Nashville, and I was shocked when I drove up to McDonald’s, ordered a Shamrock shake and they had NO idea what I was talking about. I’ll just be honest and say I actually cried about it. I mean, that’s so lame, and the crying was mostly about another issue that was going on in my life at the time, but the lack of Shamrock brought the initial tears.

By the way, my birthday is in EIGHT days. I’m going to be twenty-four.  I don’t have many consistent birthday traditions, but I will be getting a Shamshock shake on that day. Also I saw today that the circus is coming to town on March 9…perfect. Maybe I’ll go. Who knows?

A few things I’ve been eyeing, in case you were wondering what to get me….

One of my fave blogs, mucho mucho bueno bueno, makes these cool key necklaces, and in the month of March they do custom orders! i love the anchor charm, and it would be cool if it said Hebrews 6:19 on it (instead of bueno bueno like they have in the picture).

These journals I discovered on etsy are made with recycled paper. It’s such a fun, cute idea. I don’t know how usable they are though.

Still loving this tee. Gotta rep your roots, you know?

There’s these new “fine editions” of different novels and I am IN LOVE. Sorry, books, but I totally judge you by your cover.

One of my favorite bands, Iron and Wine, has a new album out that I have yet to purchase….

Oh internet, you fill my mind with desires for material things that I never would have known about without you. Pure evil, I tell you! A hug is just as good a present as any of these things.
